Just the job

exactly what is needed
‘just the job’ is an expression that we use to describe something that is exactly what we need at a particular moment, for example, an ice cream may be just the job on a hot day, but not in the middle of winter.

‘안성맞춤’이라는 뜻

‘just the job’이라는 것은 어떤 상황에서 필요한 물건을 나타낼 때 쓰는 표현입니다. 예를 들면 더운 날에 아이스크림이‘just the job’이지만 한겨울에는 그렇지 않을 것입니다.

B: 아니, 괜찮아. 근데 뭔가 문을 받쳐놓을 것이 필요한데..

A: 의자를 갖다놓으면 어때?

B: 고마워, 그럼 딱 되겠다.

A: You look like you have had a hard day, would you like a beer?

B: Yeah, it’s been busy as hell.

A: Here you go (gives beer)

B: Thanks (drinks) ahh, that’s just the job!

A: 오늘 힘들어 보이는데 맥주라도 마실래?

B: 네, 무지하게 바빴어.

A: 여기 있어(맥주를 주면서)

B: 고마워(맥주) 아,,,지금 딱 필요한 거였어!

A: We need somewhere to put the recycling to keep it tidy.

B: Why don’t you use an old wine box?

A: Oh yeah, good idea, that’s just the job.

A: 분리수거할 것 좀 더럽혀지지 않게 둘 때가 필요한데.

B: 오래된 와인박스를 쓰지 그래?

A: 아, 그래. 좋은 생각이야. 그게 안성맞춤이네.
